The lessons provided in the digital audio workspace page are aimed at introducing year 8 - stage 4 students to the capabilities of music production, composition and performance with the use of mobile phone applications

Objectives

Students will develop a knowledge and understanding of the use of Digital Audio Workspaces through;

Listening: Analyzing and identifying the sound sources and techniques used by contemporary composers.

Composing: Creating and manipulating sounds on a DAW with the assistance of a mobile phone/ tablet app.

Performing: Using their compositions created on the app in conjunction with a live performance.

Rationale

This website has been created to create awareness of the possibilities of on hand music development software as well as the impact that modern music technologies can have on today’s classroom teaching. The creation of the activities have been created with the consideration of the range of learning styles and abilities through splitting students into groups that are inclusive of SES status as well as being considerate of students technological and musical ability. Classroom tables are also to be used with pre-installed music software content.

4.7 demonstrates an understanding of musical concepts through listening, observing, responding, discriminating, analysing, discussing and recording musical ideas.

4.8 demonstrates an understanding of musical concepts through aural identification and discussion of the features of a range of repertoire.

4.10 identifies the use of technology in the music selected for study, appropriate to the musical context.

4.11 demonstrates an appreciation, tolerance and respect for the aesthetic value of music as an artform.

4.12 demonstrates a developing confidence and willingness to engage in performing, composing and listening experiences.
